Today's offering showcases this beautiful and all original Certified Pre-Owned vintage example. It features an iconic solid 18K gold tortue case, classic white Roman dial with steel hands, sapphire topped crown.
Powering it is a handwound Cartier mechanism. Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Because of this extra care and craftsmanship, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often considered more desirable than their quartz counterparts.
We were fortunate to acquire the watch with fully Cartier parts even down to the strap and original solid 18K gold buckle (the buckle itself is a $500 value). The only replacement part is one small case screw. The Cartier band appears to be in new or mint condition.
It is in gorgeous condition. The case presents as just short of mint with signs of polishing to the back.
The dial has just been restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
