An unusual and eye catching, but at the same time very simplistic sterling silver money clip. This money clip is made from one piece of work hardened sterling silver flattened wire. There is a considerable amount of work involved to create this very simple shape and design. It is not accomplished by simply pressing a button on a machine. There is a lot of hand working to get this piece into its final, ready to use shape. It is no surprise to discover that the piece is made by perhaps Denmark's finest silversmith, Anton Michelsen.
Michelsen set up his workshop in 1841 and produced a number of incredibly important pieces for the Danish Royal family, some of which are now housed in the Amalienborg Museum. He was one of the first, and one of the last Danish silversmiths to work in the Old Nordic style. The company carried on to produce fine jewellery and objects for four generations, until they were eventually merged into the Georg Jensen company.
